One should take caution if he or she is experiencing any symptoms that may be correlated with kidney infection because it can ultimately lead to kidney disease. Typical symptoms of kidney infection may include high (up to 40 gr. C) temperature (fever), chills, pain in the lumbar region on the side of the affected kidney, malaise, excessive thirst, headache nausea, and vomiting which can indicate a rapidly growing intoxication. In addition, one or both of the kidneys may inflame and become more painful. About one third of kidney infection symptoms also include inflammation of the bladder and more frequent urination.
One specific kind of kidney infection is called Acute kidney infection. This is seen when there is a sudden dramatic rise in the temperature of the body. This kidney infection usually begins with severe, unilateral pain on the lateral surface of the back. In some cases, pain may be localized in one of the sides of the lower abdomen and to give in the groin. One or both kidneys may be enlarged causing severe pain. The pain usually occurs in the lumbar spine on the affected side. Some kidney infection symptoms for this case may include fever, chills, nausea, and vomiting which does not bring relief. About a third of people with this disease and symptoms of this kidney infection experience, in the lower part of the urinary tract, frequent and painful urination (called dysuria). The urine may also have a specific odor to it, indicating a possible kidney infection symptom.
Chronic kidney infection is another type of kidney infection that is still unclear to many. It stems from an unclear path and can have no prior onset. The main kidney infection symptoms are delayed addition of body weight, pale skin, and fatigue. Chronic renal disease usually occurs only in people who have any predisposing cause or exposure to kidney disease. Full or partial obstruction of the urinary tract, the large stones in the kidneys or the reverse current of urine from the bladder to the urethra can occur in young children. Chronic renal disease may eventually damage the kidneys, to the extent that renal deficiency may occur.
In children, it is more difficult to diagnose a kidney infection and thus must be handled with the utmost caution. Kidney infection symptoms are often much more mild and difficult to recognize. Extended inflammation of the pain may be vague. Fevers are periodic or do not occur at all. Older children may complain of pain in the lumbar region, but usually the pain that children experience cannot clearly localized. Many children will complain of abdominal pain.
When looking for kidney infection symptoms, it is important to proceed with caution and if there are any suspicions, one should seek medical help immediately.
